As Pat Cooperman had trained me, all modern finishes are safe to touch and to have near your face once they are cured or dry/hardened. While they are fluid, they contain certain chemicals meant to act as a carrier for the purpose of application, but once dried, they are actually “food safe”; this includes lacquers, polyurethane, Tung oil, shellac, &c.
