Some customers are concerned that their A=440 instruments play sharp. This is partially due to some players blowing particularly hard when performing, but regarding the 2-piece instruments, the tenon is also the tuning slide. The whistles, for instance, should be pulled out approximately 1/8 of an inch to be A=440. The extra room is for those who intentionally play at a higher pitch, as some Celtic music sessions do. When you’ve been playing for a bit, check the tuning again and slide the instrument apart or together to meet the pitch you wish.
